We provide strategies to make your home safe and healthy
Our mission is to apply knowledge from decades of practical experience as a Home Health Occupational Therapist to create an attractive home environment to allow you to safely “Age in Place”, or potentially cope with a sudden illness or injury, in your own home, continuing to do the things you want to do.
An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure!
Setting up your home for “aging in place” does not necessarily mean a huge new fancy bathroom, although it can be a very helpful modification. Setting up for “aging in place” might include strategically placed railings on stairs both inside and outside, as well as in the bathroom. It might include a special piece of equipment like furniture risers, or a shower chair, or a hand-held shower nozzle. It may mean improving the lighting in your home, or changing the placement of an appliance. What it means will depend on you, your specific needs, your specific home, and your specific interests.
Constantly, people say, “I don’t need it now!” However, when that unexpected illness or injury happens, you will not be prepared for it, and will not feel like managing it from a hospital bed. Often these changes take time to implement. You do not want to have to stay in the hospital, or rehabilitation center, several additional weeks, or months, until your home is ready for you. Furthermore, changes made early, before you need them, may prevent accidents from happening.
Our goal is to provide you with cost-effective, attractive strategies to make your home functional for you. We want you to thrive with solutions in place that not only protect you, but your friends and family, too. We want your home to have the flexibility to meet your changing needs

Fall prevention is a large part of our goal when we perform a home evaluation. Falls are often life-changing, and not in a good way. “Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans. Falls threaten seniors’ safety and independence and generate enormous economic and personal costs,” reported by the National Council on Aging.
Falling is serious and can be costly. Click here to navigate to the CDC website for more information. One of their recommendations to prevent falls is to make your home safer. Our role is to give you strategies specific to your home for fall prevention. In addition to understanding your immediate needs, we can anticipate your long-term needs, whether from an illness or disability, and provide you with a strategy to “age in place” safely.
